All of our coffee is lovingly roasted on-site at our location in Lancaster City. It’s also 100% Fair Trade Certified™ and organically grown. Fair Trade Certified products combine a fair price for farming families with rigid environmental standards. This means that Fair Trade Certified products are some of the most sustainable on the market, while simultaneously raising the standard of living for millions of people around the world. Buying Fair Trade products gives farmers a chance to sell their goods at a fair price, which means that they can cover their costs, support their families and invest in a better future.
Every single coffee “cherry” is grown with no chemicals added.
Bought at a fair price, the beans are sorted, bagged and shipped from farms all over the world.
The beans are then delivered to Square One Coffee to be roasted and enjoyed.
Once we find the perfect hand-crafted roast for each type of coffee, modern processes and machinery help ensure that we can reproduce that roast each and every time, creating a coffee experience that is consistently delicious.
Many coffee “cuppings” are performed in order to ensure that we’ve achieved the perfect flavor for each coffee. When cupping, the coffee is steeped like loose leaf tea, a majority of the grounds are scooped out, and then the coffee is “slurped” in order to deliver the most flavor to the palate. Each coffee is rated and all observations are recorded for later use when adjusting roasting techniques or creating custom blends.
