History

Square One Coffee opened its doors on Duke Street in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in July of 2000.  Lane, the pioneer and original owner of Square One Coffee, sold the business to the current owners, Josh and Jess, in May of 2007.  Once Josh and Jess took their places at the helm, many things changed.  But there’s at least one thing that hasn’t changed:  Square One’s commitment to people; both to our customers and to the farmers who produce the delicious coffee that we proudly roast and serve.

We like to think of ourselves as coffee artisans, hand-crafting our custom roasts in small batches using the best technology available. It’s our privilege to serve our customers the very best coffee, which is why we lovingly roast it all on-site at our location in Lancaster City.

Our coffee is fairly traded (sourced in a socially responsible way). We place an emphasis on rewarding farmers for producing high quality coffee.  We’re committed to buying products that are sustainable and paying a price for those products that will help to raise the standard of living for thousands of people around the world. Buying fairly traded products gives farmers a chance to sell their goods at a fair price, which means that they can cover their costs, support their families and invest in a better future.
